MY PAINTINGS
Are inspired by: Light, shadow, confusion and puzzlement. I use the drama of opposites. Light and shadow, red with green, fine precise lines with smudgy blobs. There is usually a harmonising ‘subtly light mixed colour’ forming what appears to be the main point/theme of the pictures story, such as the paths that can glow from the canvas or pull deep inside and take you on a journey. I want my pictures to niggle, disturb, irritate and distract the viewer. My eye flits around like a bird from shaft of light, to a glint in the distance, to a bright sharp edge, like a dance, sometimes harmonious sometimes.. not! In "spiral garden" I can see and hear the ball rolling off the hedge curling around and round the spiral and slowly stopping.
